Audi R8 - Fantastic Flash Site

January 18th, 2007 Posted in creativity, design, ideas, marketing, animation, auto | Comment2 Comments »

It is really hard for me to be impressed with Flash sites anymore. The really cutting edge stuff suffers from a lack of relevance for me. There are some amazing interface designs, and sweet metaphors, but most are a little out of touch.

But today, I saw the Audi RS8 site for the first time.

Holy crap. Never mind that the car is sexy just sitting there. But the flash is phenomenal. Very well executed… I actually got chills.

Well done.

David Shrigley Makes My Brain Hurt

anti-depressants - a photograph by David Shrigley

I spent the evening with Jason Pollock of Family. I look up to Jason a great deal and have MASSIVE amount of respect for him and his work. We spent all evening talking about ideas for the church, design, business and the we played original nintendo.

Late in the evening he says that he has something to show me. It’s an animation by this guy David Shrigley. It was wonderful and profound. The animation is called Who I Am And What I Want. A beautiful 7 minutes and 23 seconds.

I love seeing things that I have NEVER seen before. Things I could not have imagined. Things that cause my brain to grow and that I can feel are changing me. When I look at Shrigley’s work I recognize I have SO MUCH MORE TO DO. For me, the exchange of ideas brings to light the things that I have not done yet and that which I must do.
